Cohort Construction was Founded by Joe Armentrout and Lawrence Neubauer after working together at various companies through dozens of projects ranging from $45,000 to over $20 Million. Lock step with their views on customer service, subcontractor relationships and contract administration, Cohort was born from the same idea most start ups are, the thought that we can do better. Do better for our clients, for our vendors and for ourselves.
Lawrence comes from a family of builders. His first experience in the industry was at 16 working as a summer laborer on civil projects with his grandfather. He continued with these summer roles through college where he graduated with a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2008. After college he started as an assistant superintendent with Whiting Turner, working on several large scale projects, gaining valuable experience. He would continue his career as a superintendent, moving on to running projects independently until he was offered the opportunity to move into the office and learn project management. Over the next few years, the ability to bid, buy and financially manage projects of various size and scope would be gained and mastered.
Joe started working summers for a family owned residental general contractor at the age of 14. After graduating from Towson University with a degree in Environmental Studies, Joe went into millwork which sharpened his carpentry skills. The decision was made to shift into a construction field that pertained to his college degree, environmental construction. During this time, site development and civil work experience was acquired. The experience managing crews and the job site led Joe becoming a commercial construction superintendent. As a superintendent, he further advanced his skills, assisting in all aspects of construction, from estimating, procurement and construction, to project close out.
